Recognise Triads by Ear
Reach 70% accuracy on Beginner chord ID.
Lesson
Train your ear, not just your hands
Knowing chord shapes is only half the skill. The other half is hearing what's already there — being able to say "that's a minor chord" without looking at the keys.
The drill
Open the Chord Identification game on Beginner. Play the chord, listen, choose. Repeat until you can comfortably reach 70% accuracy.
Tips that actually help
- Sing the root first. The root note grounds the chord — once you have it, the quality (major/minor) is easier to hear.
- Compare to a known chord. If you're stuck, hum a song you know that starts on a major or minor chord and see which feels closer.
- Don't rush. Listen twice, then guess. Time spent listening beats time spent guessing.
